The Story / Project

A music project about where we come from, what we carry and what we are still becoming.

Rooted in SA begins with music, then opens into memory, language, clothing, family, place and the shared imagination of South Africa.

The Project

We do not need one story to share one soil.

Rooted in SA is a multilingual soundscape of identity, memory and possibility. It honours heritage while staying awake to the country being made now.

The project holds inherited traditions beside the evolving experience of being South African: mixed influences, new identities, township rhythm, family memory, humour, struggle and everyday culture.

It is less about explaining South Africa and more about feeling your way through it: the words you know, the words you do not, the places that shaped you and the future you still want to build.

What It Carries

Sound, story and design with roots in real life.

Identity

The songs make room for mixed roots, partial memory and personal history.

"No single line... still it rhymes."

Language

Afrikaans, isiZulu, isiXhosa and English appear as living texture, not decoration.

"Different voices, one heartbeat."

Belonging

The project looks for connection without flattening difference.

"Same soil beneath our feet."

Future

The work keeps asking what the next South African story can become.

"Every tomorrow starts here today."

Brand Synthesis

My Heritage. Our Future.

The tagline holds the tension at the heart of the project: heritage is personal and layered, but the future is something we choose to build together.

My Heritage

Personal, layered and still becoming

Heritage can live in passed-down tradition, city life, family phrases, a song from childhood or a feeling you only understand later. The project does not force one version of identity onto everyone.

Our Future

Shared without becoming the same

The future is what we choose to build together. A unified rhythm can move forward without flattening the roots that feed it.

Positioning line

"A music and lifestyle project about identity, belonging, language, memory and the future we share."
